Finding the right yacht at a fair price is rarely as simple as it sounds.

It is either a tedious process of sorting through the multitude of choices, or the never-ending task of looking for a needle in a haystack. A good broker can quickly guide you through the myriad of options to the right boat, saving you weeks or months of searching, and a considerable amount of money.

We begin by carefully assessing your interests and needs and determining the general parameters of the boat that you are looking for.

We then research all yachts currently on the market by scanning the multiple listing system and various industry resources to compile an initial cross-section of available yachts. From this, you will receive a package with photographs, specifications and layout drawings of all yachts currently for sale that fit the general description. After reviewing this information and based on your feedback, we refine the parameters and perform a more comprehensive search which may include contacting owners of yachts that are not currently on the market. The process continues until we find a yacht that appears suitable.

At any point along the way and throughout the process, we make appointments and show you boats that are of interest. After determining that a particular yacht fits your requirements, we then research the market prices and historical comparable sales in order to ascertain an appropriate value on a particular vessel. We discuss negotiating strategies and a desired outcome, and formulate a purchase agreement, which we then tender to the yacht owner. When a successful agreement is reached we arrange for sea trials and surveys, which generally included mechanical, electrical, electronics, and hull inspections.

The outcome from these inspections may result in further negotiations until a final agreement is reached. Financing, insurance, tax, duty, dockage, and other pre-closing considerations are discussed and evaluated. A proper course is set, often with the assistance of a maritime attorney and documentation or customs agent. Also, prior to closing, we assist in interviewing for captain & crew and discuss chartering the vessel, if appropriate.

Finally, local or offshore delivery is arranged and the real fun begins.
