Sometimes after exhausting all opportunities in the brokerage market, the only way to get what you want is through new construction. Or perhaps you want a new yacht, irrespective of the brokerage options. Not surprisingly, this process is more complex than finding and purchasing a used boat. There are so many factors that must be considered. From the basics like what length, beam, speed, and style, to critical issues like building material, engine and machinery options, architects, decorators and yards.

Should you build it to class? Which class and why? Then there are all the fine points. For instance, once you've selected a hull material, like fiberglass, should it be cored? If so, do you want to core below the waterline? Will you float your flooring to reduce vibration? What type of plumbing material will you use for potable water, and what type of sound insulation will you use?

All these items have a cost associated with the benefit, and not all have obvious answers.

If you assume that your architect or shipyard will make all of these choices for you, then you will probably wind up with a prohibitively expensive yacht.

If you are a "nothing but the best" kind of buyer, you will still need lots of information to know which of the best to choose. And after all of these decisions have been made you still have to factor in the important consideration of resale value. These are just some of the areas where a knowledgeable, competent & experienced yacht broker can guide you & perhaps save you thousands or even millions of dollars. Nearly all of the brokers at Chamberlain Yachts International have had considerable experience in the new boat arena and are familiar with the process and nuances of yacht construction.
